Filing an insurance claim for RV body or collision damage works differently than a typical auto claim. Coaches are larger, repairs are more specialized, and not every shop is equipped to work directly with adjusters on RV-specific estimates. Here is what to expect from claim to pickup.

1. File the claim and get your claim number

Report the damage to your insurance company as soon as possible. Have your policy number, the date and description of the incident, and photos of the damage ready if you have them. Your insurer will open a claim and assign a claim number and, in most cases, an adjuster.

2. Choose your own repair shop

In California, you are not required to use a shop your insurance company recommends. You have the right to choose any licensed repair facility. We recommend choosing a shop with specific RV body and collision experience rather than a standard auto body shop, since fiberglass caps, aluminum sidewalls, and RV structural framing require different tools, materials, and training than passenger vehicles use.

3. Schedule a professional estimate

Bring the RV in so our team can fully inspect it — including areas that may not be visible from a quick walk-around, like framing behind panels or water intrusion around a damaged seam. We document everything with photos and a written estimate formatted to match what insurance adjusters expect to see.

4. Adjuster review and approval

Your insurer's adjuster reviews the estimate, either in person, through photos, or by working directly with our shop. We coordinate with adjusters from State Farm, Progressive, GEICO, Farmers, and other major carriers regularly, so we know what documentation speeds up approval. Once the scope and cost are agreed on, the claim is approved and repair work is scheduled.

5. What happens if we find additional damage

RV body damage is often more extensive than what's visible before disassembly — a cracked exterior panel can hide damaged framing or delamination underneath. If we find additional damage once the repair is underway, we document it and submit a supplemental estimate to your insurer for approval before continuing on that portion of the work. This protects you from surprise out-of-pocket costs and keeps the repair properly covered.

6. Repair, quality check, and pickup

Once approved, your coach stays in one of our enclosed bays for the duration of the repair. We handle structural work, fiberglass and aluminum body repair, and paint matching in-house. Before pickup, we run a final quality check, and our labor is backed by a 60-day warranty. We'll walk you through the finished repair and let you know if there's anything to watch for going forward.

What to keep track of along the way

  • Your claim number and adjuster's contact information — keep this handy for any follow-up.
  • Your deductible — check your policy to know what you're responsible for before work begins.
  • Photos from before the repair — useful documentation if any questions come up later.
  • The written estimate and any supplements — for your records and in case of a future claim.

We've worked through this process with hundreds of RV owners across Rancho Cucamonga and the surrounding Inland Empire. If you're not sure where to start, call us before you even file the claim — we're happy to walk you through it.
